An ancient tradition in Zuni cosmology are carved fetish creatures, or animal totems, signifying powers and qualities that might aid the owner. In our collection, Zuni artist Robert Weahkee creates animals from shed deer antlers. 

This is a bobcat with turquoise inlaid eyes. His necklace is made of citrine, amber and clear quartz. The Zuni regard the bobcat as the older brother of the wolf and the younger brother of the mountain lion; they believe the animal possesses the ability to see the future.
