René Magritte inspired the themes that are Macon&Lesquoy's daily playground: irony, the subversive and the liberation of rational thought. So it's only natural that our House should pay tribute to him with a series of hand-embroidered brooches. 

The Dove is based on Magritte's 1950s painting "Dove of Peace," as well as a series of similar L'Oiseau de Ciel (The Sky Bird) paintings he made in his career.

The embroidery on the brooches is entirely hand made in ethical workshops in Pakistan. They use bullion thread created through an ancient Indo-Pakistani technique, using special metal thread that is finely wound in a spiral and embroidered like beads. Inspired by 17th century bullion embroidered military badges, Macon & Lesquoy have designed curious, playful, and detailed embroidered brooches for every occasion.
