An ancient tradition in Zuni cosmology are carved fetish creatures, or animal totems, signifying powers and qualities that might aid the owner. In our collection, Zuni artist Robert Weahkee creates animals from shed deer antlers.
This is a Lion with turquoise inlaid eyes. The lower part of his mane is made of citrine, amber and clear quartz. For the Zuni, a Lion indicates steadfastness, inner spirit and loyalty or dedication.
