#8 Turquoise Ring
The fabulous old Number Eight turquoise cabochon in this masterpiece gold ring by Darryl Dean Begay was found in a heavily worn ring, ostensibly owned by a miner who had it made in the 1930s. The Number 8 mine of Eureka County north of Carlin, Nevada was produced some of the most highly sought after turquoise in the world.
The ring came as part of a collection and was over looked and dismissed until Begay rediscovered it. This is the gem grade representing the top 1% from the mine, as rare a turquoise as we have seen in decades. The distinctive spider web matrix is emblematic of the Number 8 mine. It sits in Darryl’s fabulous hand-chiseled bezel atop a thick shank created entirely from gleaming solid 18 karat gold.
