This 1894 large ledger collage is based on a warrior society call Crazy Dog Society.
The front rider is Running Eagle a woman warrior in our tribal history who was the only woman to be a leader in this society. The rider behind her is named is son child. Both horses have spiritual designs painted on the horse for protection both riders are wearing stand up bonnets a traditional Blackfoot headdress. Both have warm medicine hanging off the bridals of their horses and have horse masks representing high in this ranking in society.
At the top right and left of the collage ledger page, you can see two checks that are from the first trading Post company to set up in Black Feet territory: JH Sherburne US license trader. The other documents throughout the collage are stock certificates, two 1800s Montana checks at the bottom are all original documents and several Montana receips. All the documents are originals.
